BEHIND RINDU: KHARISMA P. LANANG
Ever since the world has taken a turn and almost came to a stop in 2020, celebrating Hari Raya had never been the same. Coping with the new normal this Eid 2021, we can't help but find ourselves reminiscing the good old times we once had. The long "balik kampung" drives, the annual family gathering filled with the sweet sound of laughter and the extremely mouthwatering and delicious food we look forward to eating every year.
Without a doubt, it is rather disappointing to celebrate one of the most beautiful festive seasons of the year a little different than what we're used to. Some of us may be separated by the borders, those out of the country may not be granted permission to return home, some may be tied away at work such as the frontliners, or some may be in isolation for the safety of others. With so many factors that have come into play, we utterly have no other choice but to celebrate the beauty that still lies in between the lines of it all. Love.
This Eid 2021, ANAABU celebrates the beauty of love and absence. In conjunction with the RINDU Collection, Anaabu has collaborated with a remarkable Indonesian writer, Kharisma P. Lanang; with the hope to bring out and capture the essence of "rindu" in our Eid 2021 collection. With such beautiful words crafted, we have also implement his astounding and beautiful words into our Eid Greeting Card.
It brings us so much joy to bring you this exclusive interview with Kharisma himself, to better understand his work and the mind behind each masterpiece he has crafted. We truly hope it inspires you in the most beautiful ways and enlightens your mind and heart this Raya season. May you always remember, no matter the distance, the love will always be there, and it shall never get lost nor disappear.

What does black mean to you?
Black is so fluid to me. It can be edgy, it can say 'Don't mess with me', yet still remain elegant.

What is your latest work?
I just released a duet with Imran Ajmain called "Sentiasa Merinding". I'm also working on my EP which will be out very soon.
What inspires you to do music?
Music is so powerful; it allows me to express myself and seeing how my music has affected others in a positive way, pushes me to continue doing what I do.

BLACK SERIES MUSE: FRITILLDEA
How did you first get into drawing?
Aku mula minat melukis bila aku mula kenal dunia kartun, skateboarding dan komik pada tahun 80an.
I got into drawing when i got to know the world of cartoon, skateboarding & comic in the 80's.
Whats your favourite project you've ever worked on and why?
Hmm.. Khiels sebab itu mural besar pertama utk aku.
Khiels. Because that was my first big mural.
3 words to descibe ANAABU.
Kemas, nampak simple dan sangat selesa.
Neat, minimal and very comfortable.
What are you looking forward to for ANAABU this year?
Harap akan ada lebih banyak koleksi dan mungkin akan ada lebih pilihan utk barangan eksesori bagi golongan lelaki seperti rantai atau pun cincin.
Hopefully there will be more collection and more choices of accessories like necklaces or ring for guys.
What does BLACK mean to you?
Ketua buat semua warna.

THE BEST IN BLACK : ANAABU BLACK SERIES
"Ana, why don't you create one full black collection, like what you're always wearing, next?" said Ariff, our only male in the team, sometime last year.

The idea was always at the back of my head before, hibernating before being woken up by that question. So I quickly replied, "Why not?"
After almost 3 years experimenting with designs and fabrics for unisex series, we thought of going back to basic and focus on the essentials - recreating the bestsellers - all in black. The collection will consist of several of our bestseller designs and new silhouette, including accessories that will be released phase by phase.

Ezzati Amira
Ezzati's S/S16 collection mirrors the vivid colours and tones in the simple portraits of men on the streets of India. "It's like Bollywood, but not too fancy, and the silhouettes come in the form of tunics and caftans," says Ezzati of her new collection. "I imagine a modern, urban woman who's more self-assured would wear these pieces. Sometimes I will design my collection on how I imagine I will look in the future."
This will be Ezzati's third KLFW, but despite her success she still has occasional self-doubts. "Sometimes I feel a bit insecure when other designers are doing things that I'm not doing. This is my dilemma every time I come out with a new collection. I'll ask myself – will this design work? Will people buy it? But at the end of the day, when customers buy my clothes, I wouldn't care what other people are saying because I know my designs work."
Known for her feminine fusion style, Ezzati Amira's designs have always stood out on the runway, but how does she embrace her own personal style? "You have to follow your heart and your instincts. I once wore a bundle top that looked a garbage bag! But I managed to make it work for me," she laughs. "You just need to know how to pull off your look and then you'll gain the confidence to own it."
