The last chapter of ISI-ISI celebrates three of our favourite Malaysian delicacies, prized for their convenience and their portability for feasting any time, any where.
This collection centres on a modern interpretation of traditional silhouettes, breathing new life into the modern take of Kebaya, Kurung Kebaya (Kebarung), and loose Baju Kurung. These pieces are designed to honour the nostalgic identity of Malaysia while fitting into the everyday rhythm of modern life.
The creative heart of this chapter focuses on three local icons: Nasi Bungkus, Air Ikat Tepi, and Kirai. Like the previous chapters of ISI-ISI, we’ve looked beyond the flavours to capture their unique essence; translating the rich ingredients and condiments of Nasi Bungkus, the ever timeless portable style of Air Ikat Tepi, and the embroidered texture of a Kirai crêpe into the very fabric and detailings of the garments.

As the definitive highlight of this chapter, the Nasi Bungkus series reimagines our best-selling Loose Kebaya top. Inspired by the iconic Nasi Lemak and Nasi Kerabu, each piece features a detachable middle lapel that offers multiple styling options and unique high-low hem. The Kebaya is adorned with intricate embroidery in hues drawn directly from the rich colours of condiments of its namesake dishes; Nasi Lemak and Nasi Kerabu. To complete the look, the tops are paired with matching plaid knot skirts, creating a cohesive ensemble that celebrates the colour palette of the Nasi Bungkus.

The Air Ikat Tepi set offers a modern perspective on the traditional Baju Kurung, featuring a loose top with side slits paired with its midi skirt in matching colour, sold separately. Available in the nostalgic hues of Sirap Bandung and Kopi, the collection is crafted from a specially selected wrinkled-texture. You can see abstract embroidery dances across the fabric, mimicking the natural drink flow of these local favourites. The skirt features side drawstrings that allow personalised styling while echoing the signature "ikat tepi" knot.

Our Kirai set is a graceful take on the Kebarung, characterised by its elegant front knot button-down detailing and sold as a complete set with a matching wrapped skirt. The collection comes in two appetising shades—the golden warmth of Roti Jala and the soft white of Putu Mayam. To bring the inspiration to life, we have incorporated specialised embroidery that mimics the fine, lacy lattice of the Kirai crêpe, resulting in a garment that is unique on its own.
Our best-selling piece from the first Eid drop has returned, Ketupat Palas Kebaya Janggan, now in Pelikat Hitam. This piece reinterprets the kebaya in a wrap-front silhouette inspired by the folded geometry of ketupat leaves, and has become one of the most favourites from the crowd. Joining this release are the anticipated restocks of our best-sellers: the Ketupat Palas (Pulut Nasi and Pulut Hitam) and the Fortune Cookie Top (Flour and Black).

ISI-ISI Drop 2 will be available online and offline at Kedai Fizikal Kuala Lumpur and Kedai Fizikal Johor Bahru, and our stockist, Club 21 Lab at Shoppes Four Season KL.
